This evidence based lecture synthesizes biological and clinical information in order to provide the clinician with specific recommendations useful in preventing or treating endodontic pain. The specific role of occlusion in post operative pain is reviewed as well as single-appointment treatment. Pharmacological strategies are presented which emphasize meaningful information for the practitioner. At the conclusion of the presentation the participant will have an enriched understanding of the complex factors associated with endodontic pain and its prevention/treatment.

Resin Based Cements and Their Applications
Today's dentistry requires the need for the clinician to understand both the chemistry and the clinical applications of products that are launched into the market. To properly understand both the chemistry and the clinical applications of a product means that the clinician is able to make rational decision regarding the selection of his armamentarium. In this lecture, information will be provided to the attendee in order for him to make these decisions and to follow proper protocol regarding clinical scenarios.

When in the year 1997 first investigations had been presented by using an Er,Cr:YSGG laser with 20 Hz and 275 mJ an acceptable preparation speed for hard-tissue was achieved. Today, we are able to use Er:YAG lasers with a power setting of up to 30 Hz and 300 mJ. By using these power settings the preparation speed increases that much that we can compare the results by using a classical drill. Additionally the newest systems offer the possibility to change the pulse wideness. The consequences out of this new technical possibility are super short pulses (60 µs) leading to an additional increase of the preparation speed.
Timings: 2nd November (11.30 - 12.30)
